End of Season? I think not!

For many of us living in North America the middle of October signifies a few things; the harvest, fall colors, falling temperatures, shorter evenings, and the end of riding season. I’ve decided that I’m not having it this year. I am going to keep riding as long as I can,  and as often as I can.

Thus, I invested in a pair of winter riding boots. The Gaerne Winter Gore-Tex MTB Speed Boots. And yes I’m just calling it out now, I have a pair of Egg Beaters on my road bike. So before I get flamed for it, indulge me and let me explain. I used to ride regular Shimano road pedals on my bike but I always suffered from left knee pain, and hot spots. No matter what I did, I just couldn’t get the cleat adjusted to solve both problems.

After the third time back to the bike shop for adjustments the shop owner looked at me curiously and asked if I had the same problem on my mountain bike and I immediately responded no and then suddenly my head tilted to the side and I asked the question. Why can’t I use egg beaters on my road bike? So I did, knee pain gone, hot spots gone, and nothing but long rides and wonderful afternoons were in my future!

Once I get a few rides I’ll post a review and let everyone know what I think. Till then make every mile count!
